Final Year Project

Project Title

Understanding the perceptions of Youth Regarding Teacher Education (K-12) in Karachi and the Role of 'Durbeen' in Introducing the Reforms

Description

In Pakistan, teaching in school/college as a profession is often not the first choice but the last resort as a career. Whereas, those who willingly choose it as a career do not have enough opportunities to equip themselves with the required skills. For this very reason, the teachers are not adequately trained to cater to the needs of the students and hence a gap is created which results in the loss of potential among students. This paper is exploratory research that tries to understand the perceptions of youth in Karachi regarding teacher education(k-12) and how the work of an NGO named Durbeen could be bringing a shift in this regard through a targeted intervention on teacher education.
